Overview

CesiumAstro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to support mechanical designs of communication systems for satellites and aerospace platforms. The role involves hands-on work in a dynamic environment, focusing on developing leading-edge hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical designs through all phases of the development process.
  • Involved with electronics packaging design, mechanical simulations, and analyses.
  • Conduct computer-aided design (CAD) for spacecraft mechanical interfaces.
  • Responsible for mechanical designs from initial concept to in-orbit support.
  • Present engineering design review materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in design and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Practical understanding of DFM/DFMA implications of material and process selection.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, and engineering documentation practices.
  • Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Experience with CNC manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
