Overview

The Pipefitter position is located in the Facilities Maintenance Section of Engineering Service in West Los Angeles, California. The role involves performing duties at the journeyman level, focusing on the maintenance and operations of plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs plumbing systems by installing, modifying, and repairing utility, supply, and disposal systems.
  • Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out system routing and placement.
  • Uses various tools and equipment for installation and repair tasks.
  • Installs equipment by completing the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment.
  • Tests systems and equipment for proper operation, circulation, flow, pressure, and leak-free joints.
  • Fits pipe sections using various methods such as screwing, bolting, brazing, welding, gluing, fusing, and soldering.
  • Traces and troubleshoots pipe lines, systems, and equipment to locate and repair leaks.
  • Performs safety and preventive maintenance inspections of systems and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 03:30 p.m. or 03:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
  • Physical requirements include making repairs from ladders and scaffolding, and handling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
