Overview

The Welder 2 at Greenbrier is responsible for performing quality welding of parts and fixtures in the railcar manufacturing process, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Responsibilities

  • Fits, aligns, and clamps tank car parts in jigs and fixtures for welding.
  • Operates weld machine, maintaining heat and speed for proper weld penetration.
  • Visually inspects weld work and repairs defective welds.
  • Assists in training other welders by conducting on-the-job training.
  • Reads and comprehends blueprints or weld drawings and procedures.
  • Ensures safety and housekeeping standards are met.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass applicable weld assessments to perform work as a welder 2.
  • Ability to use weld gauges and computers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints or weld drawings and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to learn to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
