Overview

The Wind AIIR Tech II is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and related equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation through mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical service work. Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly, commissioning, testing, repair, and maintenance on wind turbine generators and related equipment at wind farm.
  • Conduct and review safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Support Root Cause Analyses to assist in determining equipment failure.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and/or retrofit low to medium-voltage electrical, mechanical or hydraulic components.
  • Safely perform rudimentary troubleshooting of wind turbine generators.
  • Perform minor cosmetic repair in the paint and gel coat area.
  • Laminate repair blade gels.
  • Replace core material in sandwich construction.
  • Repair damage and delamination of leading and trailing edge.
  • Measure function and replace lightning receptor screw.
  • Complete resets on individual turbines.
  • Complete work orders, CI’s for maintenances, inspection forms, etc.
  • Turbine lubrication as required.
  • Make hydraulic adjustments as needed.
  • Accurately account for time and materials expended.
  • Report for work at the specified time and location.
  • Operate service equipment safely and maintain records.
  • Adhere to OSHA and company-specific safety protocols.
  • Report on work status as directed.
  • Other work duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical skillset and ability to quickly pickup new mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to climb towers daily and work at heights.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Technical skills and knowledge to understand advanced drawings and blueprints.
  • High aptitude for details and self-motivated.
  • Able to inspect and report uncomplicated surface damage.
  • High school education or equivalent; college degree or Wind Energy Certification preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for work and/or training.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and rotating shifts as required.
  • Training/certificate requirements: GWO BST, ART, BTT, Confined Space Awareness, NFPA70E, and LOTO.
  • Must pass Respiratory FIT test as required.
