Overview

The Aerospace Vehicle Technician role involves performing assembly and integration tasks for high-reliability aerospace products, utilizing mechanical skills and various tools to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work from design drawings, sketches, blueprints, and instructions to integrate designs.
  • Perform assembly and integration tasks to precise tolerances.
  • Operate specialized equipment during spacecraft assembly.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and install components in space vehicles.
  • Handle fragile multi-layer insulation (MLI) materials with care.
  • Support the installation of MLI and SLI on spacecraft.
  • Assist engineers in identifying improved procedures and record test data.
  • Acquire necessary certifications and perform related duties with minimal supervision.
  • Provide instruction and support to colleagues.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical principles to perform tasks.
  • Support range operations, including tests and hardware moves.
  • Operate computer-controlled equipment and various tools.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly for high-reliability products.
  • Proven experience in building and terminating wiring harnesses.
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools.
  • Skilled in interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient in using inspection tools like calipers and digital multimeters.
  • Experience with assembly tooling and composites fabrication.
  • Proficient in using various hand and power tools.
  • Experience with mixing epoxy materials.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Integration experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with MLI/thermal blankets preferred.
  • Certification to J-STD-001 space and NASA.STD.8739.4 preferred.
  • Experience working in a clean room environment preferred.
  • Ability to generate discrepancy reports.
  • Open to travel.
  • Active Security Clearance preferred.
