The Facilities Mechanic role involves performing semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of various properties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to properties managed by UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services.
  • Perform installation, removal, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of various parts and equipment.
  • Utilize knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and construction methods.
  • Use standard hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
  • Complete forms and paperwork associated with various tasks.
  • Work varying and sometimes extended hours under difficult conditions.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience in performing semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry repairs.
  • Working knowledge of card key door locks and their operating systems.
  • Strong knowledge of building materials and equipment.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand architectural plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge and skill in operating all hand and power tools standard to the maintenance and construction trades.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and safe working practices.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Experience with basic computer software including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid CA noncommercial Class C License.

  • Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
