Job Description

Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Ferrara in Itasca, IL is a 2nd Shift role focused on conducting repairs and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment. This role is ideal for military-affiliated job seekers and requires the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Disassembles, inspects, reassembles, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces malfunctioning parts or equipment using test equipment.
  • Cleans, lubricates and adjusts components of packaging equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance procedures as per schedule.
  • Installs change parts on production machinery to accommodate different products.
  • Reads blueprints, diagrams, and manuals to diagnose problems and learn equipment operation.
  • Installs new equipment.
  • Actively seeks to find and correct problems in the assignment area.
  • Communicates equipment conditions through maintenance records and shift change transfers.
  • Works closely with Production personnel.
  • Improves work-related skills through outside schooling or plant programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School/GED required.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Completed Maintenance Certification.
