Overview

As a Mobile Technician II at J.B. Hunt, you will be responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, chassis, containers, or power equipment at customer sites or rail yards using a mobile service truck. This role requires technical skills and the ability to work outdoors under routine supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs on tractor or trailer equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system.
• Properly operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
• Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees.
• Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations.
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures.
• Document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs.
• Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs.
• Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs.
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years for equipment over 10,000 lbs.
• 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent education/experience.
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines.
• Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through the toolbox purchase program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes preferred.
• Welding certification preferred.
• Forklift certification and experience preferred.
• EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license preferred.
• Proficient computer skills and comfortable working with Microsoft Office suite preferred.
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds).
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE).

• Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs.
• $2,000.00 sign-on bonus available for a limited time.
