Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing production line equipment while adhering to GMP standards and safety policies. This role includes performing preventive maintenance and participating in deep cleaning procedures for packaging line equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
• Perform daily work assignments as assigned by the Maintenance Group Leader, Maintenance Supervisor or Department Manager.
• Respond to pages for repairs, adjustments, and issues on production lines.
• Complete work orders for repairs and log all activities in logbooks when required.
• Pull, disassemble, reassemble and re-install pistons during washout.
• Perform line size changeovers and monthly line preventive maintenance.
• Maintain shop area for change and spare parts storage.
• Request needed supplies.
• Look for and report potential safety issues.
• Attend and comprehend monthly safety training.
• Perform assigned monthly safety inspections.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED), or trade school.
• 5 years of high-speed packaging line maintenance experience including plumbing and basic electrical.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and written) in English.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general policies.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and inter-department staff.
• Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.
• Ability to read and comprehend equipment manuals and blueprints-schematics.
• Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
• Planning and organization skills to prioritize and manage multiple priorities/deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Judgment to exhibit sound and accurate judgment and make timely decisions.
• Professionalism in approaching others in a tactful manner and treating others with respect.
• Attendance and punctuality to ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
• Welding, burning, cutting, grinding and metal fabrication skills.
• Use of all power and hand tools.
• Basic plumbing for pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Basic millwright and rigging skills.
• Use of machine shop tools (Lathe, End Mill, Band Saw, Chop Saw).
• Advanced plumbing skills and higher level of electrical skills for Level II.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and understand and use higher technology HMIs.

Additional Information

• The position may require overtime and weekend work depending on business needs.
• The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated ambient temperature, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, heights, and outdoor weather conditions year-round.
