Overview

Facilities Development and Management (FDM) at Arizona State University is seeking a Utility Piping Specialist to join a facilities maintenance team at the Polytechnic campus. This role involves ensuring the optimal functioning of high-performance building systems for complex lab and research operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including utility piping systems.
  • Locate, repair, and replace malfunctioning parts using hand and power tools.
  • Inspect mechanical system components and use soldering and brazing tools for precision work.
  • Work with drawings and specifications.
  • Install and maintain sprinkler systems.
  • Install and repair water lines and drain lines.
  • Prioritize work based on critical needs assessment.
  • Assist other trades as needed.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule for emergency response.
  • Communicate clearly to perform essential functions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • One year of lead experience in hospitals, schools, or large manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience working in research laboratory and clean room environments.
  • Knowledge of welding standards and mechanical operation of equipment.
  • Experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing and utility piping systems.
  • Effective communication skills.

Additional Information

  • This position is located on the ASU Polytechnic Campus in Mesa, AZ.
  • Work schedule is from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical examination and background checks.
