Overview

The MIG/TIG Welder position involves production welding using blueprints and drawings, requiring attention to detail and teamwork. This role reports to the Production Supervisor and is part of the Union UAW as an hourly employee.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up welding machines based on the job at hand.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and drawings to determine specific welding requirements.
  • MIG and TIG welds steel and stainless components according to blueprints and drawings.
  • Sets up welding cell for production runs.
  • Ensures parts are properly checked for quality and signed off.
  • Performs all necessary inventory transactions as required.
  • Keeps work areas clean and organized and takes proper care of all equipment.
  • Follows all assigned duties from either Team Lead or Supervisor.
  • Provides a great level of attention to detail and focuses on the given task.
  • Works with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years welding experience.
  • Welding Certification from an accredited training facility.
  • Pass an in-person welding test for TIG and MIG welding.
  • Must be dependable and cooperative.
  • Ability to read tape measure.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to read weld symbols.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Basic math skills, including fractions.
  • Ability to work regular schedules set by the Management team.

Additional Information

  • Standing for the entire shift.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to twist, bend, and stoop as needed.
  • Weld jacket and gloves will be provided.
  • Welding helmet will be provided upon request and must be signed for.
  • Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
  • Hearing protection is required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
