Overview

Waltonen is seeking a Welder to join their team, focusing on welding requirements for various projects in the automotive, aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. The role involves analyzing prints and CAD, fabricating components, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Report to Independence Tooling Operations Manager.
  • Complete all welding requirements for various projects.
  • Analyze prints and CAD to properly fit up, tack, and weld for GTAW/Tig and GMAW/Mig processes.
  • Be comfortable welding both aluminum and steel.
  • Fabricate components using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn, and weld pieces.
  • Understand various techniques, best practices, and what supplies and gasses to use.
  • Clean, prepare, cut, measure, and keep workspace orderly for each project.
  • Complete in-process and pre-weld inspection checklist.
  • Create and/or follow required process documents like WPS, PQR, and weld maps.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures and complying with regulations.
  • Prepare for work inspections by a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and complete required repairs.
  • Earn operator certifications for GTAW Aluminum and GMAW Steel as required.
  • Use a HiLo and crane with provided instruction and certification.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with TIG Welding and Fabrication.
  • Basic understanding of prints and GD&T.
  • Experience performing equipment maintenance.
  • Experience using power tools.
  • Knowledge of basic safety practices.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills and an interest in problem-solving.
  • Dependable in performing job-related tasks and meeting deadlines.

What you'll be running
