Overview

Modine Manufacturing Company, a global leader in thermal management solutions, is hiring a Senior Welder/Fabricator for their Tech Center team in Racine, Wisconsin. The role involves fabricating, fitting, and welding metal components to produce high-quality parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, work instructions, CAD drawings, and customer specifications.
• Layout, measure, cut, fit, align, assemble, and weld metal components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform MIG, TIG, stick welding, and brazing operations as required by product specifications and repair needs.
• Fabricate custom components, frames, fixtures, test support parts, and assemblies using various materials.
• Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, and milling machines.
• Grind, polish, finish, and clean welded assemblies to meet quality and functional requirements.
• Inspect completed work for weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
• Modify, repair, and improve existing components, fixtures, and assemblies as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, production, and supervisors to resolve fabrication issues.
• Maintain welding and fabrication equipment, perform routine preventive maintenance, and document repairs.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and maintain an organized work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience; completion of a welding or technical training program is preferred.
• 8+ years hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and engineering drawings.
• Experience using CAD software to create or modify fabrication drawings is preferred.
• Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, and brazing.
• Ability to safely operate common fabrication tools and equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
• Basic math skills and understanding of dimensional tolerances.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in a team environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
