Overview

The Combo Pipe Welder CS/SS Journeyman is responsible for planning, laying out, welding, installing, testing, and repairing various types of pipes and tubular products according to industry standards and specifications. This skilled position requires precision and the ability to work independently while coordinating with field crews.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, diagram, and lay out for pipe welder’s work.
  • Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations.
  • Position the weld setup, fit the piping, and perform precise welds independently.
  • Lay out and assemble pipes accurately according to production standards and specifications.
  • Make welding repairs and correct substandard welds.
  • Assist with coordination of any pre-fabrication layout or installation.
  • Assist with rigging of material.
  • Operate air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine, and other industry tools.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities needed for work activities.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance and take corrective action as needed.

Requirements

  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions effectively.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to move about a construction/industrial site and perform various physical activities.
  • Constantly works in a construction environment with exposure to changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • May work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • May need to move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Must pass a weld test with quality.
  • U.S. Driver's License may be required.
  • Must pass pre-access drug, alcohol, and fit-for-duty testing.
