The Mechanical Piping Designer - Lead Engineering Technician position involves leading mechanical and piping design teams to develop high-quality engineering deliverables for complex industrial facility projects.

Responsibilities

• Function in a lead technician, technical design specialist, and/or supervisory role.
• Apply advanced technical expertise to solve complex design challenges within a specific engineering discipline.
• Utilize digital design tools and software to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation and project deliverables.
• Ensure technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance while coordinating efforts across departments.
• Supervise engineering technicians and support staff by coordinating and overseeing design activities.
• Establish, communicate, and enforce design and graphic standards.
• Review project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content.
• Promote quality across projects, groups, and sections.
• Review design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Ensure design deliverables are prepared and coordinated among disciplines.
• Improve integration, coordination, and communication across disciplines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes.
• Lead or participate in process improvement and change management initiatives.
• Exercise judgment and guide other professionals in work-related decisions.
• Coordinate deliverable presentations and delegate production design.
• Monitor production to assure consistency, budget, and schedule of deliverables.
• Establish drawing control methods and maintain historical records.
• Lead or support development of new or updated design applications and processes.
• Communicate project design requirements, progress, and schedules.
• Identify key client interests and drivers on projects and communicate them to the project team.
• Lead development and communication of design standards and process improvement initiatives.
• Identify training and development needs and support personnel development.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology required.
• Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
• Typically a minimum of 15 years related work experience.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
