Overview

The Manufacturing Technician position in Kittery, Maine, seeks a multi-disciplined individual skilled in trades such as welding, shipfitting, and pipefitting. The role involves various tasks related to the fabrication and installation of submarine structures, with a strong emphasis on quality and efficiency in welding.

Responsibilities

  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, and install foundations, structures, components, and deck packages.
  • Develop a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning, and grinding operations.
  • Weld with high quality, speed, and efficiency to meet internal policy standards and acceptance criteria.
  • Weld structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine construction.
  • Participate in continuous training in traditional and new welding processes.
  • Use pneumatic tools such as grinders, burr tools, and wire brushes.
  • Perform oxy/fuel pre-heat and carbon/arc gouging, verifying weld size using weld gauges.
  • Read and interpret weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned, including removal and installation of components.
  • Work in various positions and environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
  • Be available to work all shifts and in radiological areas.
  • Possess basic hand tools and perform physical tasks such as lifting and climbing.
  • Travel to offsite facilities for assignments up to 11 months.
