Overview

The Structural Welder is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of welding machines to join various types of metal parts for structures. Delta Constructors provides construction, maintenance, and project management services across North America, specializing in industries such as oil and gas, mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes blueprints and structural drawings.
  • Adheres to applicable welding methods in completion of structural fabrications.
  • Utilizes manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions.
  • Calibrates welding tools and equipment according to welding procedure specifications.
  • Cleans and prepares metal work pieces using scrapers, chemical solutions, and grinders.
  • Cuts, repairs, and assembles building components to form complete structures.
  • Inspects and evaluates welds to ensure they are free of defects and adhere to specifications.
  • Conducts post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of work pieces.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: Two years’ experience in oil & gas or energy industries preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Must take and pass a pre-employment structural welding test.
  • Ability to consistently pass and perform acceptable NDE D1.1 AWS field weld inspection.
  • Knowledge of industrial structural welding methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of proper use of welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to conduct appropriate tests to identify and correct faults in framework.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly.
