Overview

EON is developing a high-throughput point-to-point data transport network in space using free-space laser links. The company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design mechanisms and structures for ground terminals that support satellite communication.

Responsibilities

  • Design the terminal's gimbal and coarse-steering mechanisms.
  • Design the terminal structures including telescope support and enclosures.
  • Own structural analysis for stiffness, modal behavior, and survival loads.
  • Define mechanism requirements with the PAT and GNC seats.
  • Work with the Thermal seat on structural-thermal behavior.
  • Drive design-for-manufacturability and repeatable assembly.
  • Select and manage suppliers and machine shops for components.
  • Support terminal integration and field deployment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Depth in mechanism design including gimbals, actuators, and bearings.
  • Experience in structural design and analysis with proficiency in FEA.
  • Proficiency in professional 3D CAD software.
  • Hands-on prototyping, assembly, and test experience.
  • Ability to make sound decisions quickly without complete data.
