Overview

The Pipefitter Supervisor position at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center involves overseeing the Plumbing Shop's operations, including planning, directing work, and addressing administrative tasks related to plumbing and steam fitting installations across the facility and its remote clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work schedules and assign priorities to work orders within the Plumbing Shop.
  • Lay out complex jobs and review work in progress to ensure quality.
  • Determine materials and equipment needed for tasks and initiate requisitions.
  • Supervise subordinate workers and plan their use on a monthly basis.
  • Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences based on general schedules.
  • Coordinate work with related Engineering functions controlled by other supervisors.
  • Investigate work-related problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan and establish the overall leave schedule for the Shop.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and recommend training.
  • Promote management programs such as cost reduction and safety.
