Overview

The Pipefitter position is located in the Engineering Service department at the Margaret C. Corbin VA Campus in Manhattan, NY. The role involves making safety and preventive maintenance inspections and repairs of utility systems and equipment in accordance with VA regulations and National Codes, specifically working with various piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Installing and operating high- and low-pressure piping systems, plumbing systems, and related equipment.
  • Installing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, water closets, and hot water storage tanks.
  • Aligning pipes, valves, fittings, and joints for accurate match.
  • Figuring pressures and fixture units within a system.
  • Interpreting and applying building plans and blueprints.
  • Performing work assigned orally and through written or electronic work orders.
  • Determining the proper placement and elevation for installation of equipment.
  • Planning and laying out the installation, modification, and repair of piping systems.
  • Using power tools common to the pipefitting trade.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Work Schedule: M-F, 8Am-4:40pm
  • Physical Requirements: Works from ladders, scaffolds, and in cramped places.
  • Working Conditions: Inside and outside work in all types of weather.
