Overview

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Welder I for their 2nd shift operations team in North Berwick, ME. This role involves repairing jet engine components and requires U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform hand fusion, machine welding, or other associated metal joining processes.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, welding machine schedules, and verbal/written instructions.
  • Make required settings to equipment and gas flow to obtain quality welds.
  • Prepare parts for welding, align and secure details.
  • Operate computer-controlled welding equipment and manipulate hand welding torch.
  • Utilize X-Ray film or black light process to determine repair extent and build up finished machine surfaces.
  • Use measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
  • Perform routine servicing of equipment following specified procedures.
  • Refer difficult problems to supervisor or working leader.
  • Maintain appropriate metal joining certifications.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of related experience or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field.
  • Certify and maintain a welding certification in a minimum of two metal groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Flexibility around shifts for training and workflow maintenance.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

  • This is a 2nd shift position, Monday-Thursday, from 3:30pm to 1:30am.
  • Onsite role requiring employees to work primarily at the facility.
