Overview

The Steel Welder is responsible for the fabrication and welding of Alumatowers, requiring skills in MIG and TIG welding and the ability to meet specific physical and technical qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG steel welds on Alumatowers in various positions.
  • Examine welds for bead size and specifications.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
  • Position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
  • Select torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to specifications.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on all welding equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass weld test.
  • At least 1 year of experience reading a tape measure and measuring material.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • At least 1 year of MIG and TIG steel welding experience in a production environment preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience using weld fillet gauges.
  • Forklift certification.

  • 1st shift position, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Overtime as needed.
  • Candidates must pass a background and drug screen and meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
