Overview

ProMach is seeking a talented welder/fabricator to set up and weld various metal parts using gas and electric welding equipment, contributing to the improvement of packaging performance and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets engineering prints, manufacturing manuals, and verbal/written instructions.
  • Performs combination welding including MIG and TIG with knowledge of alloy chemical composition.
  • Must be proficient in TIG welding stainless steel.
  • Uses precision measuring and gauging instruments to set up equipment and verify part conformance.
  • Cleans or degreases work pieces and repairs broken or cracked parts as needed.
  • Welds in any position, including overhead weld lines.
  • Deburrs all necessary parts after fabrication to meet specifications.
  • Operates various machines such as bandsaws, grinders, and belt sanders.
  • Follows all job safety requirements including forklift and hoist operation.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs additional duties as directed by management.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years' experience as a TIG welder.
  • High school degree or GED, preferably with completion of a formal apprenticeship program.
  • High mental and visual abilities and good math skills, including knowledge of fraction principles.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English and work well with others.
  • May require lifting of parts and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Overtime may be required.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
