Overview

The Mig Welder position at Sonoco involves working in production for the Metco Steel Reels division, focusing on welding mild steel and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Sonoco is a global leader in packaging solutions with a commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Mig weld mild steel to form finished products.
  • Fit and form parts for welding as required.
  • Inspect and grind parts as needed.
  • Maintain general housekeeping of the work area.
  • Read drawings and route sheets to determine job requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams.
  • Monitor and report quality of manufactured products.
  • Perform all duties in support of Sonoco’s quality and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Must pass a Mig Welding Test.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
  • Must have a 'get it done' attitude and urgency to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Reliable, committed, and quality-focused.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
