Overview

The Facilities Carpentry Specialist performs maintenance and repair of the facility's structure, equipment, and grounds with a heavy focus on commercial carpentry. This role is part of a growing team at BAE Systems, which supports approximately 800 employees across various facilities in New Jersey.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair of the facility's structure, equipment, and grounds.
  • Focus on commercial carpentry including suspended ceiling systems, framing, and finishing walls.
  • Install and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmithing, and painting as needed.
  • Make periodic or special inspections to determine necessary repair work.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, or rough sketches.
  • Execute routine preventive maintenance to ensure building systems run effectively.
  • Utilize computerized preventive maintenance schedules and log work performed.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand and power tools.
  • Operate a forklift to move materials and equipment.
  • Participate in special teams for snow removal and emergency response.

Requirements

  • High School or Trade School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of general maintenance experience with a focus on carpentry.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl, and reach for extended periods.
  • Lift 35+ pounds and work at heights in varying temperatures and weather.
  • Work independently without direct supervision.
