Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position involves providing maintenance and repair services on infrastructure and architectural systems under direct supervision. The role is based in various locations on the Upper East Side, Lower East Side, Midtown, and West Side, and requires availability for weekdays and some weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Completes and submits service requests and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assists with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC+R systems.
  • Provides assistance in the maintenance of plumbing systems and operates power drain cleaning machines.
  • Performs routine carpentry repair and installation work.
  • Monitors and operates building automation systems.
  • Conducts general maintenance of machine rooms including lighting replacement and cleaning.
  • Unloads and distributes materials and equipment to stock and work areas.
  • Performs daily inspections of utility systems and records operational data.
  • Provides stakeholders with status updates and project changes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Completion of technical school training program in maintenance trades or significant comparable experience.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in general maintenance within a large institution or commercial facility.
  • Valid New York State driver's license with an acceptable driving record if required to use a WCM vehicle.
  • Ability to work on off-shifts and be available for 24-hour emergency call-ins.
  • Maintain FDNY certifications necessary for the operation of utility systems.
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration Technician Certification.

Additional Information

  • Work days are weekdays and some weekends.
  • Weekly hours are 37.50.
  • Position is non-exempt.
