Overview

The City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Welder for the Park and Recreation Department, offering a career with purpose, competitive benefits, and growth opportunities. The role involves performing journey level fabrication and repair welding on various mechanized equipment and structures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair welding on equipment such as large mowers, tractors, and heavy equipment.
  • Fabricate, weld, and make metal components according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
  • Maintain welding supplies inventory and make purchasing recommendations.
  • Drive and operate a mobile welding unit for field repairs.
  • Assist in the mechanical repair of heavy equipment.
  • Train and assist apprentice welders, monitoring their work for safety and quality.
  • Perform other trades work as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of welding experience.
  • Welding certificate from a trade school plus two (2) years of required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Some positions require Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of welding principles, practices, techniques, and safety precautions.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to drive and operate a mobile welding unit.
  • Ability to perform various types of welding.
  • Skilled in the use of welding equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and design drawings.
  • Ability to complete routine paperwork.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.

  • Subject to evening and weekend shifts.
