Overview

Cleaver-Brooks Sales and Service is seeking a Boilermaker/Pipefitter/Combo Welder in Dallas, TX, responsible for traveling to customer sites to assemble boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprints using various tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications.
  • Reads blueprints to determine location and relationship of parts.
  • Connects fire tubes to heads or water tubes to drums and headers of boilers.
  • Drills and taps holes for installation of studs.
  • Tightens bolts to assemble frames using hand or power wrenches.
  • Mounts casings of water tube boilers or attaches components to fire tube boilers.
  • Bolts or screws accessories to vessels using hand tools or power wrenches.
  • Replaces defective parts or piping.
  • May install and repair refractory brick or furnace tile.
  • May thread and install pipe.
  • May remove and replace insulation and caulk seams.
  • May cut out defective parts using acetylene torch.
  • Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping systems for boiler systems.
  • Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
  • Inspects worksites for obstructions and piping integrity.
  • Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions.
  • Cuts pipe using various tools.
  • Threads pipe using a threading machine.
  • Bends pipe by hand or with a machine.
  • Assembles and installs metal pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Secures pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
  • Tests piping system for leaks.
  • May weld holding fixtures to structural steel members.
  • Must pass company’s weld test using SMAW process.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Must be able to pass a 6G weld test.
  • Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Must be able to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have a valid current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
