Overview

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Principal Maintenance Technician to support all aspects of Maintenance and Facilities, working within a global team dedicated to building sustainable communities. This role involves interacting with various personnel and requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use hand and power tools for carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, painting, HVAC and other repairs.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
  • Perform regular preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facility and production equipment.
  • Adhere to safety, quality, schedule, cost, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvements projects and capital projects.
  • Train less experienced technicians.
  • Document maintenance activities and complete work orders promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and technical self-study programs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in general maintenance or facility maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance lift equipment, forklifts, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to respond to service requests with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Knowledge of HVAC operation, maintenance, and system components.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Working knowledge of oil/water separator systems.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Applications.
