Overview

The Mechanic at Rayburn Electric Cooperative, Inc. ensures the reliable operation of the vehicle and mechanical equipment program through maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics, emphasizing technical skill and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple priorities and works effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Develops and implements maintenance and repair strategies for vehicle and mechanical equipment.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of all vehicles and equipment, including inspection reports and maintenance activities.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
  • Utilizes diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.
  • Works independently and collaborates with team members to prioritize tasks.
  • Adheres to safety culture by conducting Job Hazard Analysis and addressing safety concerns.
  • Understands and complies with established standards and procedures.
  • Drives Rayburn vehicle to various sites, potentially exposing to live electrical hazards.
  • Subject to on-call duties after normal business hours as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) required.
  • Certification from a recognized vocational school or trade school required.
  • ASE certifications are preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with diesel and gas engine systems, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose complex problems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class A CDL driver’s license.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
