Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs general repairs, alterations, and construction to City buildings and facilities, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC maintenance. The position requires a variety of technical skills and adherence to safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of City facilities, equipment, and buildings.
• Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical tools and equipment.
• Assist employees in building maintenance methods and techniques.
• Perform minor repairs and replace plumbing fixtures.
• Conduct carpentry work including construction and remodeling.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical lighting systems and fixtures.
• Inspect building facilities to identify maintenance needs.
• Maintain keyless access control systems.
• Repair Nederman Exhaust Systems within the Fire Department.
• Install, adjust, repair, and inspect HVAC equipment.
• Manage building automation systems.
• Assist with major plumbing and electrical installation and repairs.
• Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Monitor and maintain preventive maintenance records.
• Participate in pre-season pool preparation.
• Maintain lock systems for City buildings.
• Monitor and maintain fire sprinkler and alarm systems.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience in one or more building maintenance trades.
• Valid driver's license.
• Certification in one of the following trades: Electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, or locksmithing.
• Ability to obtain required certification within the first twelve months of employment.
• Possession of aerial lift and forklift certification as required.

Additional Information

• Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Overtime as needed.
