Overview

WesTech is dedicated to helping communities thrive by providing high-quality water solutions. The Fitter/Welder role involves reading engineering drawings, performing layout and fit-up activities, and executing welding operations on complex assemblies while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Fit and assemble complex components using approved fabrication and welding procedures.
• Perform FCAW (Dual Shield) and GMAW (Hard Wire) welding on various metals and alloys.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions to meet high-pressure and structural strength requirements.
• Operate MIG welding equipment and weld parts utilizing fixtures and fabrication jigs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting production requirements.
• Successfully pass a welding certification test, preferably in the 6G position.
• Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of welding machines, tools, and related equipment.
• Produce work that meets company quality standards and customer requirements.
• Inspect fit-up, welds, and finished assemblies for dimensional accuracy and workmanship.
• Conduct self-inspections and inspect work performed by others when required.
• Rework or repair welds as necessary before parts move to the next operation.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and coworkers.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Assist with other duties and projects as assigned.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Complete assigned work orders and production tasks within established schedules.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three to five (3-5) years of welding and fabrication experience.
• Experience with FCAW (Dual Shield) and GMAW (Hard Wire) welding processes required.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, forklifts, grinders, saws, and other fabrication equipment.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and position materials and components.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Previous welding certifications are preferred.
• GTAW (TIG Welding) experience is a plus.
• 6G welding certification or ability to pass 6G testing is preferred.
• Pipe welding experience is a plus.
• Experience fabricating and welding structural steel assemblies is preferred.
• Knowledge of AWS welding standards and quality requirements is a plus.
