Overview

EXO Inc. has been protecting public infrastructure across the U.S. since 2009 by delivering engineering, inspection, and remediation services. The Welding Technician is responsible for performing welding tasks using FCAW and SMAW processes while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks using FCAW and SMAW processes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and welding symbols.
  • Select and set up appropriate welding equipment and materials.
  • Execute welding operations in all positions.
  • Inspect and verify welded components for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform weld tests and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of welding activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a welding certification program or technical training in welding is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a welder with FCAW and/or SMAW processes.
  • Previously held AWS certification in FCAW and/or SMAW is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.

It is the workhorse on heavy structural steel and shipbuilding, where thick sections and long welds reward speed.
