Responsibilities

  • Welds in the garage and assists operational teams with client-specific tasks.
  • Works with specialized equipment including welding tools and heavy machinery.
  • Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate hazards.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
  • Examines workpieces for defects and measures them to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds, or bolts component parts for welding.
  • Selects and installs torches, tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
  • Determines required equipment and welding methods based on metallurgy and geometry.
  • Monitors welding processes to avoid overheating or warping of materials.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations.
  • Marks or tags materials with job numbers and identifying marks.
  • Prepares material surfaces for welding by removing contaminants.
  • Preheats workpieces and guides flames or electrodes for connection.
  • Detects faulty equipment operation or defective materials and notifies supervisors.
  • Cleans or degreases parts using wire brushes and grinders.
