Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs on metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches.
• Execute a variety of rail car repair related tasks in a team environment.
• Establish good working relationships at all levels.

Requirements

• Use a variety of tools and equipment such as pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes.
• Read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Knowledgeable or willing to learn how to perform air brake tests.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds with proper body mechanics.
• Work within a teamwork environment with regular and predictable attendance.
• Keep materials area and other work areas clean and orderly and report potential hazards.
• Able to pass drug screen and physical.
