Overview

The Welder/Fitter performs fitting, fabrication, assembly, and welding operations in a production environment, ensuring components are properly aligned and welded according to specifications. Responsibilities

  • Perform fitting, fabrication, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Read and interpret engineered drawings and specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using measuring equipment.
  • Perform layout, fit-up, alignment, and assembly of components.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment with proper settings.
  • Select appropriate electrodes, welding wire, and consumables.
  • Position, clamp, and tack weld parts for alignment.
  • Adjust gas mixtures and pressures for cutting and welding.
  • Guide welding guns along weld lines to maintain quality.
  • Weld various components according to specifications.
  • Examine welds for quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain attendance and work overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • One to three years of welding, fitting, fabrication, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform fit-up of fabricated assemblies.
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
