Overview

The Senior Metallurgist/Quality position in the Big Rapids, MI area is a permanent, onsite role focused on ensuring that all castings meet customer performance specifications and expectations while acting as the internal voice of the customer and representing the Quality System.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer quality requirements and issues are addressed and resolve customer complaints.
  • Function as the management representative for the Quality System and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Lead department managers in root-cause problem-solving exercises.
  • Share technical expertise and contribute ideas to enhance organizational performance and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, or Quality Management.
  • Preferred minimum of 5 years of experience in foundry manufacturing and quality.
  • Experience in machining and tooling/gating design.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience in technical customer service.
  • Management of outside suppliers or subcontractors.
  • In-depth knowledge of casting technical requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Expert-level knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Expert capability in reading blueprints and working with CAD models.
  • Working knowledge of computer databases, spreadsheets, and word-processing software.
