Overview

Thea Energy is a company focused on commercializing fusion energy through innovative stellarator technology. They are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to lead the development and scale-up of manufacturing processes for high-temperature superconducting magnets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and standardization of manufacturing documentation for HTS magnets.
  • Own the design, procurement, build, and commissioning of custom magnet manufacturing tooling and equipment.
  • Serve as the primary manufacturing liaison to the Magnet Engineering team.
  • Architect and manage manufacturing BOMs, routings, and inventory workflows within PLM and MRP systems.
  • Author technical specifications and evaluate supplier capabilities.
  • Define technician roles and establish training programs.
  • Track and report on manufacturing milestones, schedule adherence, and budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience building complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Proven background in advanced joining and metal fusion processes.
  • Demonstrated success scaling low-volume development projects into production environments.
  • Deep expertise in drafting and interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T.
  • Experience in magnetic confinement fusion, aerospace, medical devices, or defense sectors.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
