Responsibilities

  • Develop documentation for the manufacture of HTS magnets, including processes, procedures, work instructions, and quality criteria.
  • Design, build, and commission magnet manufacturing tooling and equipment.
  • Collaborate with magnet engineers to incorporate design for manufacture and lessons learned.
  • Develop and implement virtual and physical inventory management and manufacturing BOMs.
  • Generate specifications and collaborate with vendors to procure hardware that meets quality standards.
  • Define roles and coordinate onboarding of manufacturing technicians.
  • Track and report results and progress against program goals and milestones.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with a related degree.
  • Experience with complex electrical and mechanical hardware assemblies.
  • Process development experience including tooling, fixtures, machines, and automation.
  • Expertise in metal fusion processes, including soldering, brazing, and welding.
  • Experience in scaling from first-of-a-kind to continuous production.
  • Proficiency in generating and interpreting manufacturing drawings, particularly GD&T.
  • Experience with planning and execution software such as PLM, MRP, and inventory management.
  • Ability to solve highly multidisciplinary engineering problems.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

  • This role is part of a 50-person startup company that is expanding rapidly, aiming to grow to 150-200 employees during Series-B funding and ultimately to 1,000 employees over the next 2-3 years.
  • For advanced-level candidates, there is the option to work fully remotely, given a strong ability to self-start with minimal training.
  • Mid-level candidates (4+ years) are ideally based in NJ for a hybrid work schedule.
