Overview

WSP is expanding its nuclear engineering capabilities to support future nuclear projects across the U.S. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Generation) - Nuclear with extensive experience in mechanical disciplines to manage complex nuclear assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan, execute, and deliver mechanical engineering assignments according to quality programs, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform or lead mechanical engineering for operating nuclear facilities, plant upgrades, new nuclear projects, and advanced-reactor assignments.
  • Develop and review design criteria, calculations, specifications, datasheets, and engineering reports.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to plant systems and equipment such as piping, pumps, valves, and HVAC.
  • Conduct engineering analyses including equipment sizing, hydraulics, and design-basis calculations.
  • Evaluate design alternatives considering safety, performance, and constructability.
  • Support the equipment lifecycle including technical requisitions and vendor document reviews.
  • Participate in project execution from concept through detailed design and commissioning.
  • Coordinate requirements across various engineering disciplines and support design reviews.
  • Prepare scope, schedule, and technical inputs for project planning and proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including at least 7 years in nuclear power.
  • Demonstrated experience in nuclear mechanical areas such as plant systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing controlled engineering deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design control and applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to evaluate technical problems and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical issues and recommendations.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, and technical interfaces.
  • Willingness to travel to client offices and nuclear sites as required.
