Overview

The Shop Quality Foreman supports the shop team to ensure quality compliance in project planning, fabrication, and execution. This role involves inspecting fabricated work, identifying quality risks, and fostering a strong quality culture among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of contract requirements and review shop drawings for compliance.
  • Participate in First of Kind Inspections to identify quality risks and training opportunities.
  • Visually inspect welds to ensure all code requirements are met.
  • Communicate trends with operations for department training and education.
  • Work closely with the Shop Project Manager to anticipate punch items.
  • Ensure awareness of McKenney’s Quality Absolutes and lead Quality shop walks.
  • Review new material and equipment upon arrival and document deficiencies.
  • Walk the shop regularly to document quality and identify deficiencies.
  • Work with projects requiring quality tracking technology and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure all McKenney’s quality best practices are followed throughout fabrication.
  • Attend and document all project system testing for quality and safety compliance.
  • Document corrections to deficiencies per standards.
  • Communicate recurring deficiencies with Shop Supervisor and Team Lead.
  • Complete dimensional and geometric verification of shop drawings and spools.
  • Review first-of-kind work for quality improvements and training needs.
  • Participate in Pre-Task Planning sessions to identify quality risks.
  • Capture and document fabrication progress and quality of completed work.
  • Document pressure testing within the Test & Inspection Log.
  • Inspect quality of subcontractor scope for compliance.
  • Review and resolve outstanding Quality Observations.
  • Ensure all rework is reported and tracked properly.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the mechanical contracting field.
  • Experience as a minimum Crew leader/Foreman.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Ability to maximize efficiency and meet challenging work goals.
  • Attention to detail while completing multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Exceptional work ethic and uphold company values.

Additional Information

  • Work involves moderate exposure to elements such as hot/cold temperatures and loud noises.
  • Some exposure to construction, mechanical, and electrical-related hazards.
  • Occasional offsite travel for material inspections may be required.
  • Moderate physical effort required, including handling objects up to 50 pounds.
