The Black Tea Mechanic role involves maintaining and improving packaging machines for tea products while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on high-speed packaging equipment.
  • Operate power tools and shop machinery for repairs and equipment improvements.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and collaborate with managers and production teams.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, SOPs, technical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Assemble and disassemble mechanical components including bearings and gears.
  • Follow all company safety requirements, GMP standards, and quality expectations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability.

Requirements

  • One to two years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience maintaining high-speed packaging equipment in consumer food products or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience with overhead box conveyor systems and bulk delivery and storage equipment.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools including calipers and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of the metric system and common units of measurement.
  • Ability to read and comprehend machine manuals and technical drawings.
  • Experience assembling and disassembling mechanical components.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and workplace safety practices.
  • Food manufacturing experience, machine shop experience, or a technical degree/certification is preferred.
  • Electrical troubleshooting knowledge is considered an asset.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time permanent role on the 2nd shift, operating Monday through Friday with some Saturdays.
  • Overtime may be available depending on business needs.
  • The role requires standing and walking for 8-12 hours per shift and lifting up to 25 pounds.
