Job Description

Overview

The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for completing required preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial facility equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The technician will work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication skills and an ownership attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Abides by all safety guidelines including OSHA regulations.
  • Conducts regular checks of systems and equipment to identify issues.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and performs substantial equipment repairs.
  • Inspects and evaluates operating characteristics of equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Repairs dock equipment and building/parking lot lighting.
  • Documents work results in the CMMS and recommends updates to PM list.
  • Communicates effectively with coworkers and customer staff.
  • May manage maintenance projects and provide guidance to subcontractors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills.
  • Valid driver's license and various equipment operator licenses required.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in various forms and write reports.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and demonstrate plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, and aerial lift.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage unexpected downtime.
