Responsibilities

  • Comply with all OSHA regulations and Shapiro & Duncan Safety Program.
  • Assist welders and pipefitters with screens to protect others from flash burns.
  • Have the opportunity to become a certified pipe stick/mig welder.
  • Work with welders and pipefitters on all piping aspects of the job.
  • Assist with the coordination of any pre-fabrication layout or installation.
  • Operate machinery such as the Vernon Pipe Cutting Machine and Band Saw.

Requirements

  • Able to work Monday-Thursday from 2pm-12am night shift.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to resolve conflict professionally.
  • Interface effectively, ethically, and professionally with all levels of individuals.
  • Communicate effectively in English (aural, verbal, and written).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (experience may be substituted for education).
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for the duration of the shift.
  • Able to lift up to seventy-five pounds (75 lbs.) without assistance.
  • Possess a strong desire, willingness, and ability to learn new tasks.
  • Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces, dusty areas, temperature extremes, and external elements.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
