Overview

The Combo Welder must be trained in various welding processes, including arc welding and oxy-fuel welding, and is responsible for setting up equipment and welding pipe, plate, or structural steel. The role requires working from blueprints and specifications while ensuring safety and quality in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials to be welded and weld components
  • Perform maintenance on welding torches and equipment
  • Perform simple piping installations and repairs
  • Assist other mechanics or craft workers as needed

Requirements

  • Must be trained in a variety of welding processes
  • Ability to set up equipment and weld using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment
  • Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work
  • Ability to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment
  • Physical ability to move throughout active construction environments and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with crew members and supervisors
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply work instructions and safety requirements
