Job Description

Overview

AFC Industries is seeking an experienced, hands-on Cabinet Maker / Casework Fabricator to build custom command-and-control consoles, technical workstations, commercial casework, cabinets and related laminated products. The ideal candidate will be a dependable self-starter who can manage the entire fabrication process with a focus on quality.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate custom command-and-control consoles, cabinets, workstations and commercial casework.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, dimensions and cut lists.
  • Measure, lay out, cut, machine and assemble plywood, MDF, particleboard and related materials.
  • Apply high-pressure plastic laminate and similar decorative surfaces.
  • Cut, bond, route, trim, file and finish laminate cleanly without chips, bubbles or visible defects.
  • Operate table saws, panel saws, routers, drills, sanders, edge-banding equipment and common woodworking tools.
  • Install hinges, drawer slides, locks, handles, leveling feet and other cabinet hardware.
  • Create accurate openings and provisions for monitors, electrical equipment, ventilation and cable management.
  • Produce square, level and dimensionally accurate assemblies.
  • Inspect work during fabrication instead of waiting until final inspection.
  • Identify drawing, material or fit problems before they create scrap or delays.
  • Correct fabrication issues and recommend practical manufacturing improvements.
  • Maintain an organized, safe and efficient working area.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, metal fabrication and assembly personnel.
  • Complete work according to production schedules and communicate delays immediately.
  • Train or guide less-experienced employees when required.

Requirements

  • At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on cabinet making, commercial casework, architectural millwork or custom woodworking experience.
  • Demonstrated experience fabricating cabinets or casework from raw sheet materials.
  • Strong plastic-laminate or Formica fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read and work from shop drawings without constant supervision.
  • Ability to accurately use tape measures, squares, calipers and other measuring tools.
  • Experience with cabinet hardware, joinery and assembly methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and finished-product appearance.
  • Ability to solve fabrication problems independently.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle sheet goods, parts and completed assemblies.
  • Willingness to work overtime when production schedules require it.
