Overview

Protingent Staffing is offering a contract opportunity for an Electromechanical Technician in Long Beach, CA, focusing on the assembly, integration, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems for aerospace manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, and test large mechanical and electromechanical mechanisms supporting additive manufacturing of aerospace hardware.
  • Build, wire, and integrate controls cabinets, including power distribution, I/O, and PLC connections.
  • Integrate robotics systems into production and test environments, supporting setup, alignment, and checkout.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls issues on shop floor equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on shop floor equipment and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support new builds, modifications, and process improvements.
  • Document assembly steps, maintenance activities, and as-built configurations.
  • Follow all shop safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe handling of pressurized systems.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in electromechanical or mechatronics assembly, integration, or maintenance.
  • Strong working knowledge of both electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Experience assembling and integrating controls cabinets.
  • Experience with pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience integrating or supporting robotics systems.
  • Experience with PLCs; Beckhoff (TwinCAT/EtherCAT) experience preferred, other platforms welcome.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment (multimeters, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a general understanding of how mechanical and electrical systems work together.
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in mechatronics, electromechanical technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments a plus.
