Overview

The Maintenance Technician IV position at JPL involves supporting and maintaining advanced technical facilities for fabricating, assembling, and testing electro-mechanical hardware. JPL, located in Pasadena, California, is dedicated to innovation and discovery in the pursuit of answers to significant questions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular functional checks and preventive maintenance on CNC and non-CNC equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment issues, coordinating with outside vendors as necessary.
  • Inspect, maintain, and replenish oils, fluids, filters, and coolant concentrations.
  • Oversee chemical inventories and procure necessary supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, OSHA, federal, state, and local guidelines.
  • Support all preventive maintenance requirements, including auditing maintenance logbooks.
  • Work independently from technical documentation to perform repairs.
  • Establish new vendor resources for machine repair and maintenance.
  • Partner with safety and environmental program offices to meet JPL requirements.
  • Proactively identify equipment issues and recommend updates to maintenance processes.
  • Support machinery relocations and coordinate facility maintenance for utility systems.
  • Maintain strong communication skills and collaborate effectively with the team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma with 10 years of experience, Associate's degree with 6 years, or Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience plus technical training.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with CNC machining centers and conventional machinery.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office.
