Overview

At Air Products, the UHP Technician is responsible for the installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Ultra High Purity (UHP) gas systems and equipment used in the electronics and semiconductor industry. This role requires a strong technical background and the ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of UHP gas systems and related equipment.
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure safe and reliable system operation.
  • Diagnose mechanical, process, instrumentation, and control system issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and technical procedures.
  • Support installation, inspection, and acceptance testing of new equipment and system modifications.
  • Interface directly with customers to resolve technical issues, coordinate service activities, and communicate project status.
  • Develop work scopes, maintenance plans, and field execution strategies.
  • Support root cause investigations, reliability initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, maintenance records, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A trade, technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field is preferred but is not required.
  • Military service will be considered in lieu of a trade or technical degree.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with industrial, mechanical, electrical, or process systems.
  • Experience in performing field service, maintenance, commissioning, or repair activities in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic systems, compressed gases, process equipment, instrumentation, or semiconductor support systems is preferred.
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety performance.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent the company at customer sites.

Additional Information

  • This position supports customer facilities across the region and requires frequent travel to customer sites, project locations, and company facilities.
  • Travel may include overnight stays and extended periods away from the home office depending on project demands and customer support requirements.
