Job Description

Overview

WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Co-op for Spring/Summer 2027 in Philadelphia, PA. This co-op offers students hands-on experience in plumbing and fire protection engineering while working alongside senior staff and gaining exposure to real projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and plumbing/fire protection diagrams.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Learn Autodesk Revit to model Plumbing & Fire Protection components and systems.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress.
  • Become familiar with various engineering standards and codes.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in Plumbing Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Additional Information

  • This co-op is anticipated to take place during the Spring and Summer 2027 semesters from March 29th to August 20th.
  • No relocation or housing assistance is associated with this co-op.
